My wife’s faith…

I still remember when my wife was still here… suffering from her sickness…

We belonged to a Catholic Community… whose members all prayed for her

My friends and former office mates tell me they all include her in their prayers

Her co-teachers… all of them also prayed for her

People I’ve met in the net… included her too in their prayers

Our relatives… are also praying for her

Even strangers we’ve just met… told us they’ll include her in their prayers

And that’s not counting our own prayers
Masses were also offered for her

With lots of voices calling to God, He is bound to listen
definitely He would listen

or does He?

we have served in the church, both of us… since we were young!
He should return the favor… He should listen…

Yet, my wife’s not getting any better!
Doesn’t He care?! Isn’t He listening to all those prayers?!

I want to hang on to faith… but for how long?

One day, I told my wife….
all those people praying for you… why aren’t you getting any better?”

isn’t God listening to all those prayers?”

Her answer was short… and unexpected

“you know, if it weren’t for all those prayers
I may have been long gone by now

Her words humbled me….

Indeed, God is listening…

I am so glad your wife had faith enough to see how great God is to each of us, even in her most trying of times. Remember, though, it’s not about the number of words you pray, but the heart behind them and what God knows is best for us. In her sufferings, she shares in the pains of Christ and knows a deeper understanding of our Lord. She also is able to teach each of us how important and fragile life is, how brave humankind can be, and what it means to love. I have lost many friends to cancer, and I have also learned much from them about how to live. I will keep both of you in my prayers.

Sorry for your loss. We don’t know why God chooses to heal some and not others, but we do know he loves us and does care. God is in control of all and does know best. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord! Keep the faith and you will see her again in heaven–that’s the comfort we as believers have.

Bro, I too have lost love ones from different illnesses and these love ones have different levels of faith but I really admire your wife. She said it in the most simplest way and yet ….. (tumagos sa puso) heart piercing. God Bless!
