Time to pray
No Time To Pray
I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They’d laugh at me I’d fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
“Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down…
But never found the time”
Are we really too busy? Do we have our hands full that we do not even have time to talk to God, much less attend the mass every Sunday?
This was the gist of the homily in this Sunday’s Gospel which was taken from Mark 1:29-39, where Jesus, in spite of His day’s filled with so much work - healing and preaching, He still wakes up early in the morning just to be able to talk to God and pray.
Jesus is showing us an example here.
Prayer is our line to God, yet because of our ‘too busy’ schedule, we forgot (and sometimes consciously) to use it.
Instead, we treat it just as an emergency kit. Something that we need it cases of emergencies.
Our God is more than just a ‘first-aid kit’ which we can run to when we are in need, when we are wounded… when we have problems.
He also love to hear our stories of joys, victories and triumphs.
He longs to talk to us… through prayers.
He gave us so much… is it too much to say a little ‘thank you’ to Him?
And when we do that - communicate with Him regularly… it can actually make us stronger, wiser, and happier… knowing that we can always talk to Him - about anything.
So don’t deny Him that… and most especially, let us not deny ourselves that privilege… to talk to our Father…
through prayers…

We should never say that we have no time to pray. It is just like saying we can go on life without God. Apart from God, we can do nothing. Prayer keep us attuned to God’s will and we are strengthened by His power. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.
